The Collector Street Inventory (CSI) summarizes traffic and related information for selected collector streets. The CSI is not a plan. It identifies improvements to streets that are part of the Bicycle Plan or that are needed but not yet planned.
Collector Streets
The City of Austin’s Transportation Criteria Manual states that “the primary function of a collector street is to intercept traffic from intersecting local streets and expedite the movement of this traffic in the most direct route to an arterial or other collector street.”
Purpose of the Collector Street Inventory (CSI)
The CSI contains existing and dedicated streets with average daily traffic (ADT) volumes of approximately 1,800 to 6,000. There are about 100 collector street segments identified from informal field observations, as no published ADTs were available for these segments. In addition, a small number of street segments with counts of less than 1,800 ADT but that had predominant contiguous existing or proposed non-residential land use were included. The CSI table also contains:
-
Pavement width and rights of way
-
Connecting arterials or collectors
-
Signalized intersections
-
Bicycle plan
-
Bus routes
