Capital Planning

The City of Austin regularly undertakes projects to improve public facilities and infrastructure assets for the benefit of its citizens. Such projects include the construction of city facilities, such as recreation centers and libraries, as well as the reconstruction of streets, replacement of water/wastewater lines and provision of power for City of Austin residents. Collectively, these projects are referred to as the City of Austin Capital Improvement Program (CIP).

Discussions are under way about what projects could be included in a future bond election. City Council will consider the recommendations next summer. Click on the Bond Development tab on this website for more information about the Bond Development Process.
The East 7th Street Reconstruction Project wrapped up almost two months early, with the contractors on each piece of the projects completing their work within 16 months.
