Free, Eclectic, Live Music The next Music in the Parks concert will feature Dickie Lee Erwin with Mandy Mercier from 4:30-6:30 pm on Tues, March 6 at Republic Square Park, 422 Guadalupe. With musical influences from Waylon, Willie, Pink Floyd to Mozart, Dickie Lee Erwin has performed bluegrass/folk music in his award-winning band, Erwin Prather. With an authentic sound, Erwin's 7th album, “Again the Wall,” will be released in the fall of 2012. Joining Erwin on the stage will be Mandy Mercier, a Rock-blues singer-songwriter skilled in violin/fiddle that has performed in Austin since the late 1970s, and has played at renowned venues such as the Armadillo World Headquarters, Antone’s, and Alamo Lounge. Mercier has sang along legends such as Ray Wylie Hubbard, Shake Russell, and Champ Hood. The Music in the Parks series is a year-long concert series that provides free, live and diverse concerts to Austin’s music-loving community in parks citywide. Coordinated by the City's Music Division and Parks Department, the Music in the Parks series presents an eclectic range of genres, including conjunto, folk, soul, rock and country performances in park settings within Austin neighborhoods.
